Rabbit Ridge Allure de Robles NV
WINEMAKER'S COMMENTS Our vineyards in Paso Robles are in the ideal climate and soil conditions for Rhone varietal wines. Allure de Robles is an estate grown wine that is produced in Chateau Neuf du Pape style. This wine is primarily a blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre. The clones of the grapes are predominantly from Tablas Creek Winery and Vineyard Nursery, meaning they are cuttings from both the Chareau Beaucastle in the famous Chateau Neuf du Pape region of France and French Entav budwood. The vineyard is still young so it is producing a wine similar in style to a Cote du Rhone but one which should age well for several years. TASTING NOTES This wine is medium bodied with strawberry and cherry overtones from the Grenache, body from the Syrah and earthiness from the Mourvedre. Our Allure de Robles is a great choice for sipping or with a wide variety of foods. from: http://www.rabbitridgewinery.com/ts2_AllureDeRoblesNV.html
This is a great wine for the price....at only $4.99 a bottle at Trader Joe's, it is easily the best deal in the whole store. It's a wine that will never let you down. With a deep Syrah-like taste and big nose, I would definitely recommend this wine if you're looking for something great, but strapped for cash.
opened while a homemade bolognese simmers on the stove. warm, sweet. underlying acidity. too much acidity? tried pairing with a Sees almond-dipped-in-dark-chocolate cluster. the combo between the wine and the almonds seemed far more interesting than the wine/chocolate pair. not bad. for some reason the aroma reminds me of ravenswood. potent. Tastes like headache wine. C says "tastes like a syrah... fairly smooth... no... harsh finish..." ------------------ drinkable, but with so many reasonable decent wines out there, not sure i'd go back for more. I suspect this Non Vintage (NV) wine is unduly having reviews spread amongst the other Rabbit Ridge Allure de Robles wines listed. ?
