Food Pairings for R Wines Grenache Poor Thing
Personally, this was my favorite wine from R Wines' Southern Gothic series. The nose of candied black cherry, mint, and a hint of bittersweet chocolate was absolutely intoxicating. The flavor profile was similar to the nose, and was wonderfully juicy, with a lusciously soft mouthfeel to boot; like drinking candy, except not even hardly sweet. Great tartness and acids, with a long, long finish. Really, this was a fantastic wine for $20. I would have felt comfortable paying up to $30 for it. Important note: LET IT BREATHE. It will need at least an hour in a decanter -- three hours sitting in bottle -- to open up properly.
