R Wines Grenache Barossa Valley Bitch 2008
What's in a name? It may be a little controversial but it can't hide the fact that this is a good wine. Quality Ebenezer Grenache from 25 year old vines. It is a fruit forward style (in fact unoaked) but is complexed by some savoury and spice characters that balance the perfumed fruit.
This is one of my first experiences with Grenache and it's not bad. Pale red in color, it's obviously much lighter bodied than most red wines I favor. Reminds me of strawberry or raspberry jam, though not really sweet. I'm drinking it at room temp but it might be good with a bit of a chill - nice, easy drinker. Would probably be good with food, but not anything with a terribly strong flavor.
I really like grenache so I am biased but I recently tried this and it is one omy new favorties for around $10. Very drinkable, nice couch wine.

I LOVE this wine! My sister bought me a bottle for my Birthday...first of all, I am NOT picky about wine....I had the biggest laugh at the label and immediately opened it (I'm far from a bitch, but my sis couldn't resist!) The taste, to me anyways, is delicious! It's not too dry, not too sweet....1 bottle just wasn't enough! I see the rating on Snooth is low....I was surprised because I've been looking for "Bitch" everywhere locally....cannot find it. She got it in a small boutique shop while she was out of town. Happy to know I can order some thru Snooth! Thanks so much!
I bought it because the name was funny and it was pink, but it ended up being really tasty and amazing!
Bought it first for the fun label. Keep buying it for the fun flavors. My new "girls night" staple!
I just bought a bottle with 2009 on it, and it isn't as good as the 2008. Is there a reason?

Amber-edged red. Candied strawberry and raspberry on the nose. Light-bodied but slightly syrupy red berry flavors are uncomplicated and a touch slippery. Finishes somewhat abruptly but leaves sweet, confectionery red fruit notes behind. Drink this ve... Stephen Tanzers IWC. The 2008 Bitch Grenache is about as good as it gets for $10. Earthy, herbal, sage and garrigue-like aromas mingle with lovely rose petal and cherry scents. Smooth, ripe, flavorful, and seamless on the palate, this friendly effort is all about pleasure. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
Light red. Candied red berry and cherry aromas are straightforward and lightly spicy. Sweet raspberry and cherry on the palate, with no apparent tannins and a gentle tanginess on the back. A light, uncomplicated, candied wine with lingering jammy berries on the finish.
A spectacular bargain, this 100% Grenache (from 40-year-old vines) has nothing "bitchy" about it. Gorgeous kirsch liqueur intermixed with pepper and soil undertones result in an Australian Grenache that tastes like a Vacqueyras on steroids. Medium to full-bodied, supple-textured, and silky, this is a stunning example of a value-priced Barossa red. The good news is there is 4,000 cases, and the packaging was designed by someone with considerable imagination. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
