R Winery R Osé(2006)
Here is the first release of R Osé, a Rosé made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on David Hickinbotham’s 15 year-old Clarendon Vineyard. The 2006 growing season started with a cool spring with good rainfall followed by a moderate Summer broken up with a brief warm period in January. This provided good ripening conditions that allowed grape maturity combined with the good natural acid balance appropriate to a rosé styled wine. - Light nose of peaches and spice. Palate is melty, with lazy tannins and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Bright red fruits show through here, mostly cherries and raspberry. This wine is growing on me with each subsequent sip. The finish is the most severe part of this wine, it lingers and you can really taste the full bodied plump Cabernet grapes that it was made with.
