Winemaker's Notes:

The wine boasts intense aromas of Asian pear, green apple, toasted hazelnut and integrated oak. Our signature combination of richness and elegance is evidenced by the creamy, crisp flavors of lemon pie, and exotic spice, all buoyed by the bright, fresh acidity.

Rodney Strong Vineyards:
Founded in 1959 by Rodney Strong, Rodney Strong Vineyards has one of the richest histories in Sonoma County. It was the first vineyard to plant Chardonnay in Chalk Hill (1965), and the first to release it (1977). It was also the first to plant Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley (1968) and the first to make a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in Sonoma County (released in 1974). ... Read more
Founded in 1959 by Rodney Strong, Rodney Strong Vineyards has one of the richest histories in Sonoma County. Success didn’t come overnight: hard work and perseverance, coupled with a strong business sense and tender loving care, allowed the vineyard to prosper. When Tom Klein purchased the vineyard in 1989, a major overhaul was planned, and in a short 10 years, sales grew over 600% to 500,000 cases. Today, Rick Sayre, David Ramey, Greg Morthole, and Justin Seidenfeld, winemakers at Rodney Strong Vineyards, source grapes from over 1,000 acres of vines throughout Sonoma County, across 14 estate vineyards from Alexander Valley, the Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill, and Sonoma Coast. All of these high-quality grapes have allowed the winery to become the success that it is today. Read less

Our 2009 Chardonnay is rich, concentrated and structured. The aromas and flavors feature white peach, golden delicious apples, vanilla and crème brûlée. The palate is rich and concentrated with spice and toasted oak while fine natural acidity keeps the wine in balance. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **

An appetizing earthy note at the start makes way for a complex character, including hints of citrus, pear, hazelnut, vanilla and spice, that gains nuance and fans out on the finish. From California. Drink now through 2002.

Although showing a certain kinship to the winerys rather overdone Sauvignon Gris, this very deep, well-ripened effort pulls back from the brink of being too much and delivers lots of herb-accented melony fruit. Ripe, rich and full-bodied, with a slight leafy-minty accent to the core of pear, fig, anise and melon flavors. A bit coarse in texture, but time in the bottle should soften the mouthfeel. Drink now through 2005.
