In the style of the house, this wine is light in body and mature in tone, with persistent and complex flavor. The color shows touches of oxidation, as does the initial aromas. But if you stay with the wine, earthy cherry flavors come up, minerality develops, and the mellow power only seems to gain focus. Decant this for roast pheasant with chanterelles.
Berry, spicy, leaf, vanilla and orange peel notes mingle in this lively red. It's light-bodied, yet has good grip and bright acidity. Expressive, clean and refreshing, in the traditional style. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graziano and Mazuelo. Drink now through 2010.
Pale red with a brick rim. Rose, redcurrant and dried strawberry on the nose, along with a hint of white pepper. Light and delicate in texture, almost ethereal in its red fruit presentation. Silky, almost gossamer in texture and weight, with precise red berry and pomegranate flavors and no obvious tannins. If you looked at this funny, it might disintegrate. Definitely for fans of the type, and I hope that their bottles are in as good condition as mine was.
Coming from the very traditional family-run Lopez de Heredia, this wine exhibits nuances of strawberry, blood orange, pomegranate, coconut and exotic spices. Vi¤a Bosconia is produced from Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano that has been aged for three years in American oak barrels. The winery is one of the few in Rioja that is still owned by the founding family.
