Qupe Syrah Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard 2009
Very interesting nose—somewhat earthy, somewhat vegetative, maybe something like cut grass. Fairly delicate on the tip of the tongue. Some cherry/berry flavors. Nice firm acid. Very tame tannins. My feeling is that this is not a long-ager. A good wine now, but no need to allocate storage space for this one.
The nose showed red berries, tart blackberry, citrus and herbs. On the palate, it was silky with rich, spicy fruits that turned tart as the wine’s acidity penetrated the senses. The textural contrasts on the palate made this even more enjoyable and resulted in a long, palate-coating finish. (90 points)
