Qupé Syrah Santa Maria Valley Reserve Bien Nacido Vineyard 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Compared to the more savoury, minerally examples from the Northern Rhône, BobLindquist has managed to preserve the grape's inimitable pepper/plum characterwhile imbuing it with a lick of West Coast sunshine. Yet ironically, Bob haschosen to stick with Syrah' rather than sell out to Shiraz', perhaps indeference to the grape's heritage. This wine offers rich damson, toasty wildthyme mint aromas, while the palate is silky textured, decadently opulentwith plum blackpepper fruit flavours and a terrific umph! One for thosevenison sausages. (David Berry Green-BBR Buyer)
