Two and a half glasses
Pretty blase. Traditional to the point of forgettable. No real notes of anything distinguishable, but not a bad wine... just generic.
Blackberry, vanilla, spice, lightly floral nose; some oak, relatively tannic w/ medium body, spicy finish. Well-balanced overall.
A Syrah in color and body, but with only a touch of the trademark black pepper and spice of today's California Syrahs. Good, but not memorable.
my understanding is that Qupe is trying to produce a more simple, old world style of the Rhone varietals. based on that, and that this is their entry level wine, i'd expect it to display character typical to french syrah without expanding much beyond that...almost a primer to their other wines, and i feel that's exactly what this is. i think it's very solid at that price point.
Softening and with pleasant depth; yields typical cherry notes amid a framework of ripening tannins. Not opulent, and though it seems to promise further development, it might just be teasing.

This intensely flavored white from Qupé is an excellent choice for lovers of Chardonnay but looking for something a bit different. Round, rich and the type of wine you can sip and enjoy. Aged in neutral oak barrels.
A tasty and aromatic Syrah from Rhône-grape specialist Qupé. This medium-bodied wine boasts classic Syrah flavors: black fruit and a touch of black pepper.

This is one of our best bottlings yet of this wine. The relatively cool vintage in 2006 allowed for long hang time and great acidity. The riper, forward fruit aspects of the Paso Robles fruit are balanced by the acidity and spiciness of the cool climate Santa Barbara fruit. This wine is made with early consumption in mind, but if you are so inclined, and since this is a special anniversary vintage, you can certainly put in the cellar for 8-10 years.
?There's a lot of edge to this complex, meaty syrah. The fruit has a high-toned, cranberry character, and the aromas are full on, with rose-petal-to-the-metal intensity. It ends firm and fresh, its purple color ready to brighten any deeply-flavored dish.?
