Quivira Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Wine Creek Ranch 2007
wine Creek, the namesake of our property, neatly divides the ranch as it flows towards its emptying into Dry Creek and has been the focus of a decade-long restoration project. This work has successfully led to the return of native Steelhead trout to spawn after many years of absence and is but one example of Quivira’s commitment to responsible land stewardship. The elegant 2007 vintage gave us Zinfandels that have the briary-spicy fruit that Dry Creek is known for, but with a natural balance that seems to defy gravity. A little splash of Petite Sirah adds some base notes along with eighteen months in barrel. While this medium-full bodied wine shows quite well now, the next four to six years will bring only greater refinement.
Cinnamon, apple, and wood on the nose, pinching tart acidic body, nice rounded finish.
Huge nose of tight bright berries. Bright and spicy, lean and acidic. Complex and amazing.
Thick, rich nose of blackberry and blueberries - this is a powerful zin. In the mouth, the highly concentrated fruit continues with blueberries dominating. Offset with a dense treacly, sweet richness that moves into chocolate on the finish. Very nice.
Briary fruit with hints of florals like lavender and violet. Nice spice. Great mouthfeel. Bright red fruit, but not overly jammy. Pretty, floral tinged fruit. - Tasted at Schreiner's Winers zin tasting 9/18/10

Chocolate and mocha flavors, light spice and a hint of minerals, light tannins. Overall, a smooth zin!!!
Lots of berries (the missus drew out some blueberry notes- she has a keener palate than I), tobacco, ripe tannin and a smooth dry finish. There's enough acidity present that it would do well against the fattiness of an awesome ribeye steak.

Dry and full-bodied, with robust flavors of wild red, blue and black berries, currants, cola, dark chocolate and oodles of peppery spices. Feels brisk and tannic in the mouth, with a balanced, classy finish. A beautiful Dry Creek Zin for drinking now.
Quivira is a small, organic, family-run estate in the heart of Sonoma in California. This Zinfandel is produced with fruit from several different vineyards throughout the Dry Creek Valley. It's a dry red wine with an abundance of red raspberry fruit with underlying layers of tobacco, cedar, and mocha.
