Editorial Reviews for Quivira Sauvignon Blanc Dry Creek Valley Fig Tree
Rather subdued on the nose with a smoky, stemmy quality and an earthy core to the waxy fruit that hints at melon and white cherry. There’s also a touch of a roast meat quality to the nose. Chunky fruit in the mouth with decent acidity but this feels a bit clumsy though there are nice hints of kiwi and apricot on the palate that lead to a bright, light finish that is marred a bit by the relatively high alcohol. 88pts

Quivira makes a flavorful, fresh, well-priced Sauvignon Blanc nearly every year. The 2009 has a nice combination of ripeness, freshness, and energy. Piquant herbal nose, crisp yet full of citrus and subtle pear-like flavors. Refreshing feel, untiring to drink.
Refreshing and light with a distinct grapefruit taste throughout. Tend to be finicky about whites, but I like this one!
This is one of my favorite Sauvignon Blancs. Previous vintages have been lovely, ripe, and luscious, and the 2007 is no different. The nose is citrusy lemon-lime, but in the mouth there is a strong presence of honeydew melon. The 2007 feels a little hot and even peppery, but overall a great wine. As if that weren’t enough, it is organic and biodynamic. See my full review at: http://winedinewith.us/2009/11/05/wine-review-2007-quivira-sauvignon-blanc-fig-tree-vineyard/
Had this wine with Easter Lunch which primarily consisted of two types of fish, Salmon and Orange Ruffy. This wine was a decent pairing. It was better with Orange Ruffy than the salmon. I wish I had saved some of the Domaine Carneros Sparkling wine to try with the fish.

A beautifully aromatic Sauvignon Blanc that shows aromas of grapefruit and key limes. This is a refreshing white wine with a very dry finish.
Made white Bordeaux-style, with barrel fermentation in partially new French oak and aged sur lies, this vineyard bottling is always interesting, but the rsquo;04 is one of the best. Itrsquo;s rich and creamy, with complex flavors of Meyer lemon, ripe fig, honeydew, crushed pineapple and peppery spice. Yet for all that, itrsquo;s quite dry. Donrsquo;t overchill, or yoursquo;ll miss the nuances.
They donrsquo;t get much drier or crispier than this. Shows savory aromas and flavors of lemongrass, gooseberry, grapefruit and gardenia, with a long, spicy finish. Ultra-clean and inviting.
Riper than most sauvignon, this balanced wine shows the warmth of the Dry Creek Valley, well farmed. The fruit flavor is clear pear and apple, moving toward peach, while the aroma has a sharp, pine-like edge. That sharpness, along with the honeyed finish, makes it a mouthwatering match for crab.
Focused, with hay, fig, vanilla and tangy lemon-lime tones that carry through the vibrant finish. Drink now through 2006.
The 2002 vintage expresses the clean, herbal and citrus character that has marked the Quivira Sauvignon Blanc over the years. The subtle French oak harmonizes with the touch of Semillon adding weight and richness without detracting from the crisp fruit. The resulting wine is bright with fruit and has a clean and lasting finish of lemon grass.
Winemaker's Notes:
The nose of this vintage is strikingly similar to the wines of the Loire, with a notable, yet mild, grassiness reminiscent of “fresh hay”. A small percentage of the Musque clone adds lifted floral notes with subtle citrus and tropical fruit tones. On the palate, dried fig and a lovely lemon zest quality emerge, and the assertive acidity is nicely balanced by a textured mid-palate. The bracing acidity of this wine makes it a good match for slightly richer foods. Try it with a goat cheese tart or richer seafood dishes. This wine will stand up to a year or two of bottle age.
