Lighter colour than 22 though very respectable deep crimson. Sweet start to the palate. Not massive intensity in the middle though no shortage of tannins (maybe slightly of acidity) on the finish. A rather truncated wine. Rich and pruney for earlier drinking. Dry finish.

Fresh picked berry fruit. Very soft, slightly closed. Cedar, full-bodied. Rich, firm tannins. Excellent concentrated fruit. Creamy finish. Drink 10 years.

One of the best ports for the price from the classic 2000 vintage, this is killer stuff! Declared only in very good years, Silval Vintage Port is made in the traditional way. Having spent 18 months in oak cask the wine is allowed to develop in the bottle, it will throw a deposit and need decanting. The Silval Vintage combines power, complexity and concentration with a forward, fruity style making it approachable when quite young. Superdark and powerful. Shows raisin, spice, coffee and violet aromas. Full-bodied, very chewy, with lots of grip and loads of fruit. Very long in the mouth. Super value. -Wine Spectator
