Considering that all of the grapes contained are indigenous to Portugal this comes off as very French. Rhone-esque grenachian flavors tingle on the tongue. Great pairing for pasta with meatballs.

Quinta do Vallado Douro Red 2007 is a powerful and refined red wine from Portugal, with concentrated flavors of plum, dried cherry and spice. Fine texture, with plenty of savory herbal notes, and a long olive-and smoke-filled finish. Drink now through 2015.

The 2007 TINTO is a Douro blend. It is another fine "regular" Tinto in this very consistent 2007 vintage. This relatively low priced Tinto has a hidden advantage in that a significant portion of its blend (27% this year) is an old vines field blend f... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Winemaker's Notes:

In the heart of the Douro region, a few miles from the historical centre of Régua, Quinta do Vallado spreads along both banks of the Corgo River, right where it meets the Douro. With references dating back to 1716, the Quinta belonged to the legendary D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira and has remained in the family ever since. It is now in its sixth generation. Douro red has wonderfully concentrated aromas, with intense mature red fruit aromas, hints of violets and “esteva” (a local Portuguese resinous bush). With a great structure, full bodied, matured round tannins, and a long persistent finish, this is a red to try. Pair with traditional portuguese cuisine and make a real night of it!
