Quinta Do Portal Port Blend Porto Vintage 2003

Member Review by ryanopaz:

Dense color purple black 1st round Light wood, clove, anise, and alcohol on the nose with a fruit background. Very viscous in texture with firm tannin and high acid. Palate is of spice, fruit, with subdued raisin and blackberry flavors. 2nd round Chocolate, wood and nuts. The palate is fruit like candy with high acid and med tannin. [NR]

Opened Dec 2017.....this could age for another 20 years or better! Pours slightly viscous but it isn't oily or syrupy.....and it definitely needs a decanting due to lots of residual sugars/stems/skin that has settled. Semi hazy ruby color with rustic overtones starting to appear. Smell is of licorice and assorted roots, heavy plum/raisined fruits, blueberry, walnut/almond richness and some woody characteristics. Flavors follow suit, with pronounced blueberry, plum, hints of blackberry, raisin, licorice-like roots, and just overall a smooth, well rounded body, fruity and super long finish that lasts well into the next taste! Highly recommended and simply a great Port Vintage!
