Quinta Do Noval Porto Vintage Port 2016
Member Review by iamjasonmann:
great value from a classic and consistent Port house. I've been to Quinta do Noval in Oporto, Portugal and the grounds exude the heritage of the brand. This is my goto brand for all things port as I'm never disappointed....particularly with the modest price of some of their LBVs.

Add your reviewgreat value from a classic and consistent Port house. I've been to Quinta do Noval in Oporto, Portugal and the grounds exude the heritage of the brand. This is my goto brand for all things port as I'm never disappointed....particularly with the modest price of some of their LBVs.
We decanted this wine, with great precision, but were surprised to find very little sediment in the bottle. The color was a faded medium ruby with slight bricking along the rim. Ludens cherry cough syrup drops, cooked prunes and tobacco showed on the nose with an intense alcohol veil that never fully released its grip. Smooth and silky on the palate with medium acidity and very light in body. Hints of cherry, raisin and chocolate flavors mingle on the palate briefly before rapidly disappearing. For a 32 year old wine, I can't complain. Although it's past its prime, it's still a tasty port!

The 2011 Quinta do Noval has wonderful precision on the nose with blackberry cassis intriguing flinty notes and a whiff of smoke. It might not possess the power of the Nagional but it has freshness to spare. That comes through on the beautifully composed palate which is underpinned by fine tannins that lend it a silky smooth mouthfeel. There is real intensity here but it is very controlled with superb minerality on the finish. Excellent. Tasted May 2013. Neal Martins Wine Journal.

Rich aromas and flavors of crushed berries, red fruits, sweet spices and raisins meet structured tannins. The finish is long and harmonious. - Winery

What a nose. Ripe fruit, with chocolate, blackberries and raisins. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with velvety tannins. Finish goes on and on. Layered and wonderful. Best after 2014. 1,500 cases imported. -JS Wine Spectator. A Port wine from Douro in Portugal. 2003 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 750ml
