Definition: Carefully selected and aged for three years in oak, Tawny Port is lighter and softer than Ruby Port. It is an elegant, delicate wine with an amber hue and a fresh finish. Varietal Composition: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Barroca predominate among the traditional grape varieties of the Demarcated Region of the Douro Valley. Vineyard Location: Â" A Â"quality grapes from our traditional suppliers in the heart of the Douro Valley Analysis: Alcohol: 19,4º % vol Residual Sugar: 87,1 g/dm3 Total Acid: 4,12 g/dm3 Tartaric Acid Ph: 3,58 Barrel Type: Big oak vats Bottling Date: Bottled according to demand. Barrel Time: 3 years Vinification: The Noval Tawny is vinified by pump over in stainless steel vats with temperature control at 26º/28º C. Tasting Notes: intense brick colour. It has a more complex nose than the Ruby, showing youthful fruit with a raspberry character. On the palate It is medium sweet with a well balanced fruit and richness. Drink it slightly chilled as an aperitif or at room temperature with a dessert.

Quinta do Noval is situated in the very heart of the Douro valley, in the Cima Corgo, just two kilometres from the small town of Pinhão. As you approach the entrance to the quinta from Pinhão, you will see the famous broad terraces of Quinta do Noval on the right. The Quinta, which is principally situated in the valley of the small Pinhao river, a tributary of the Douro, has approximately 145 hectares of vines, ranging in altitude from 100 metres, at the level of the Pinhao river, to 350 metres at the summit of the valley. The Quinta is approached by a long drive, covered by trellised vines. This is the first view of the quinta that you see as you drive up. Read less

Winery notes A tawny port from a single vintage the 1968 Colheita is an impressively richwine. It possesses sweet fruitcakelike aromas intermixed with tobacco smoke and roasted nuts with a spicy round rich and assertive flavor and a smashingly long finish. Fabulous on its own or with almond tarts.
