Quinta Do Noval Bottle 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: The 2007 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is a star of the vintage. Dense purple-colored, it gives up an already complex aromatic array of lavender, Asian spices, incense, and an amalgam of black fruits with a hint of chocolate in the background. Plush and mouth-filling, this large-scaled Port manages an uncanny blending of elegance and power. Long and savory in the finish, it will continue to blossom for another 20+ years and drink well through its 50th birthday if not longer.

The Noval showed a wonderfully rich volume of intensely pure fruit - I'd venture to say it was the most pure and refined of any 2007 I have tasted. Its mass of fruit was followed up with evident tannins - a richer style than some, almost showy, but with an exciting future ahead.

(Tom Cave, Berrys' Cellar Plan Manager)

As you approach the entrance to the quinta from Pinhão, you will see the famous broad terraces of Quinta do Noval on the right. The Quinta, which is principally situated in the valley of the small Pinhao river, a tributary of the Douro, has approximately 145 hectares of vines, ranging in altitude from 100 metres, at the level of the Pinhao river, to 350 metres at the summit of the valley. The Quinta is approached by a long drive, covered by trellised vines. This is the first view of the quinta that you see as you drive up. Read less
