Winemaker's Notes:

The Quinta do Infantado wines and Ports are grown, made and bottled at the Quinta (Estate). The Quinta is located near Pinhão, at an altitude of 150 metres above sea level, in a sub-region called Gontelho, which has long been renowned as a source of outstanding Port. This winery was established in 1816 by D. Pedro IV, the Portuguese crown heir, as a winery was needed to collect taxes, which were then paid in grapes or wine. This is the origin of the Quinta’s name: Infantado derives from Infante, the Portuguese for Prince. Prince D. Pedro IV later became Emperor of Brazil. The Roseira family has owned Quinta do Infantado for over a century. This wine has good colour, with intense perfumes of dark chocolate and plums on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, with dark stoned fruit and rich, savoury characters well-knit with ripe but robust tannins. Good length, with a long, elegant finish.
