88 points. This wine’s aroma is very strong and well defined. It’s deep and spicy, with dark red fruit tones, chocolate covered blueberries and plum, combined with beautiful foresty aromas that make me think of fresh pine needles and rosemary flowers. A good spin in the glass brings out some black currant, charcoal, and a little bit of suede, with a menthol component showing through just around the edges. The palate opens with plum and fruit cake flavors, molasses, and kitchen spices. There’s a bit of leather, some wild honey, and some perfectly ripe black plum and raspberry, leading to a combination of all of these things unfolding lightly on the finish. This is a nicely done wine. It has perfect balance of fruit and spice, and the tannins are firm but pleasantly delicate. It’s smooth and medium bodied with good varietal definition and a nice amount of complexity. If you’re new to Touriga Nacional, have never had one outside of a blend, or are already a fan and are looking for a solid one, this is a great buy at the price. Dark translucent ruby red, showing black pepper, plum, black raspberry and eucalyptus with subtle anise notes. Beautiful nose reminding me of a thick and juicy Thanksgiving sauce with subtle spice and deep red fruit flavors. Bright acidity peaking on the back palate with firm tannin spreading along the sides, integrating well into this medium bodied wine. Deep rich red fruit take precedent on the palate.
Deep, clear garnet red with an intense violet, chokecherry, hawthorn with slight undertones of exotic spice. The aroma feels silky on the nose. Fantastic wine. The satin tannins and medium acidity create a round, lush mouthfeel. Slightly jammy on the plate with integrated red fruit, cigar and floral flavors. I highly recommend this wine! It's a crazy and fun combination of both artesanal and sophisticated sensations.
spicy yet smooth; deep red color; fruity aromas
Intense, dark fruit, spicy, chocolate, tar
Not being able to afford the big Duro wines of Spain i recently decided to try some of the Portugeese Duro wines and this one in particular is very good and great value. If you like a big tasty well balanced wine this is for you. Superb value.
