A very tannic wine - full of black cherries, cedar, oak. Powerful and a good example of a Portugese Cabernet -very different from the sort of cabs I've tried from elsewhere.

The sunny hillsides of Pancas have belonged for centuries to the Perestrello family, one of whose ancestors was Filipa Moriz Perestrello, wife of Columbus. Producing wine as early as the 16th century, Pancas' latest vintage is the result of combining the best of old world traditions with the expertise of California veteran Jerry Luper and the experience of Portugal's prestigious Joao Portugal Pamos. Famous for his work with several Napa Valley wineries, Mr. Luper believes that the soil and climate in combination with selected clones of the variety produce world class results. The proof can be found in this darkly colored, intensely flavored 100% Cabernet.
Dark chocolate and spice aromatics and flavors highlight this well-made 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Black currant and anise flavors from a rich texture. This is potent and dry - but there's a constant stream of pretty fruit flavor to the firmness of structure. Pancas first planted Cabernet in their hillside vineyards twenty-five years ago. And the wine has consistently improved as the wines matured. Their latest vintage is a juicy and satisfying steakhouse red.
A deeply-colored, ripe and flavorful red offering solid cherry and berry flavors accented by spice. Full-bodied and tannic but not harsh on the palate.
Shows some nice concentration, with plum, herb and olive flavors predominant. Tannic on the finish; try in 1998.
This has been a super value from Portugal for many years. The '92 is a fine example. The Cabernet is blended with a bit of Periquita to give it an extra dose of spicy richness. Try it with freshly grilled meats and vegetables.
From the Estremadura region located in western Portugal. Full of fleshy, dark chocolate and cassis on the palate. An oaked, red wine that could easily be mistake for juicy, California Cabernet Sauvignon.
