Food Pairings for Quinta de Monte Redondo Porto Ruby
I've been through all or most of the moderately priced ports--Dow, Presidential, Taylor & Fladgate, Fonseca, Croft, Cockburn come to mind--and so I was quite skeptical when I found this at a liquor store that I don't frequent and at a price that was about 2/3--1/2 what I usually pay for a run-of-the-mill port. I was a bit disappointed. The first bottle I got was the Quinta de Monte Redondo Ruby, and it was just not nearly as sweet and full as the Presidential Ruby I had just finished. Nevertheless, I did next try their tawny port and found it okay to my palate. But at under $10, I have no hesitation to buy it again. Now I am trapped: The price is just low enough and the quality is just good enough to keep me from buying something I'd enjoy much more, eg, Sandeman Reserve.
