Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2006! The Quinta do Crasto Douro red is a blend of 33% Touriga Francesca, 33% Tinto Roriz and 34% Touriga Nacional grapes that are pressed gently to extract fruit flavour and color without extracting too much tannin. The wine then spends 9 months in American oak to produce a fruit-driven style of wine that is best enjoyed young. The wine is deep, opaque red in colour with aromas of intense berry fruit with subtle oak complexity. On the palate it is rich, full and concentrated, showing great depth of fruit with well-integrated American oak, good tannic structure and a firm, dry finish.

This wine could age a little more. I found there to be an unfortunate bitter after taste that might soften up with time. Tasted caramel/vanilla and blackfruit.
