What to Expect

Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

This wine is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc which was aged in new French oak for 22 months prior to bottling in July 2006. The 2000 vintage resulted in wines that have stunning aromas, flavors and texture. Juicy blueberries, blackberries, violets, cocoa, and minerals coat the palate with complex layers adding notes of wood smoke and Asian spice. This wine will mature nicely over the next 7-8 years and continue to age gracefully for at least another 10-20 years thereafter.

Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 111, November/December 2003 ($75; includes 3% cabernet franc) Bright medium ruby. Aromas of crystallized dark berries, tobacco, mocha, peat, graphite and smoky, spicy oak. Very rich and dense but not overly sweet, with strong oak notes of spice and chocolate along with suggestions of pipe tobacco and fresh herbs. Finishes with ripe, chocolatey tannins and excellent length.
