#80 on the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2013! Located in the high altitude village of Greve in the Chianti Classico zone, Querciabella produces this ultra-modern style of Chianti. Grapes are sourced from their own biodynamically farmed vineyards and and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for up to 14 months. The winery practices a proprietary farming regime known as cruelty–free biodynamics, which bars the use of animal–derived products from all phases of grape growing and winemaking. This 100% vegan approach to biodynamic viticulture is the key to producing wines of exquisite quality and marked territoriality. This Super Tuscan blend is 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. A small percentage is aged for 10 months in French oak. Wine Spectator scored it 90 points and named it a Top 100 wine. They said "This ripe red boasts flavors of cherry, cedar and herb matched to a medium-bodied frame. The acidity and tannins are in the correct proportions, offering a lingering finish. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2015 through 2024."
