Querciabella Chianti Classico 2011
100% Sangiovese Spicy on the nose with a hint of wood adding detail to the raw if not aggressive perfumes of frutti del bosco flecked with hints of seeds and spice adding real complexity. This is downright opulent in the mouth and punching way above its weight class with richness, depth of fruit and a refined quality that makes this a real standout of the tasting. the fruit, pure, lively and spiced on the palate with wild red berry, red cherry, and astringent lingonberry notes is wrapped around subtle mineral and herbal nuances with fantastic length, power, and freshness on the finish. 92ptsAdd winemaker's notes

Four and a half glasses
The nose showed youthful cherry and spice with crushed fall leaves and a hint of cranberry. On the palate, it was rich yet balanced with refined structure and focused red fruits. The finish lingered on with notes of cranberry and fine tannin. This wine was just a baby and will likely be a stunner in another few years.
Three and a half glasses
This is my favorite Chianti. Beautiful and smooth.
Drank this in Florence,Italy and Boston, MA. Very nice Chianti....Great price at Costco.
External Reviews for Querciabella Chianti Classico
Located in the high altitude village of Greve in the Chianti Classico zone, Querciabella produces this ultra-modern style of Chianti. Grapes are sourced from their own biodynamically farmed vineyards and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for up to 14 months. The Wine Advocate scored this wine 90 points saying "The 2008 Chianti Classico Querciabella is a very pretty, attractive wine laced with fragrant red fruit. This is a finely knit, small scaled vintage of the Querciabella with beautiful balance and a long, harmonious finish. A beautifully delineated, crystalline finish rounds out this wine that shows the more delicate, Burgundian side of Sangiovese. I hope readers can appreciate just how hard it must have been to make a wine of this level from biodynamically farmed vineyards with minimum intervention in the very challenging 2008 harvest. The Querciabella is 95% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016."
Wine Advocate ReviewRated 91Gorgeous aromatics waft from the glass as the 2006 Chianti Classico Querciabella (95% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) opens to reveal a super-elegant expression of fresh berries, flowers and tobacco. The plumpness of the fruit makes the wine very appealing today, but there is sufficient tannic clout to suggest at least medium-term aging potential. In recent years Quericabellas Chianti Classico has established a new benchmark for finessed Chianti made in a contemporary style that nevertheless remains faithful to Sangiovese and the unique qualities of these sites. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2021.
A Sangiovese wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2007 Querciabella, Agricola Chianti Classico 750ml
The 2007 Chianti Classico Querciabella is a fragrant, perfumed red. Silky tannins frame a core of cherries, sweet spices and tobacco as this elegant wine opens up in the glass and puts on weight with air. In recent years the Querciabella has established itself as one of Tuscany's top Chianti Classicos, as it is again in 2007. The Querciabella is 95% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017.
When we find a great Chianti Classico producer like this one, it's cause for celebration. This food-friendly red wine shows dark fruit, powder, licorice, and solid tannins. It's all wrapped up in a surprisingly approachable package, but the bottle shows all the signs of ageworthiness.
