From 100% Orange Muscat with an aroma reminiscent of Orange Blossom and Apricot, and a lingering refreshing aftertaste, Essensia is used as a dessert accompaniment or a dessert in itself. The Orange Muscat grape variety is little known. It was once grown in France and there are some small plantings in Italy and Australia. The wine is lightly fortified to about 15% alcohol and aged for 3 months in French Oak. The wine tastes balanced, like the taste of fresh fruit. Essensia's vibrant flavor makes it an excellent accompaniment to desserts, particularly chocolate and those containing almonds, peaches, apples, or apricots. It is also used for dipping biscotti, for moistening cakes, or for adding to trifles. With sparkling water, it makes a refreshing spritzer; with sparkling wine it makes Essensia Royale.

A fortified dessert wine done in a Beaumes-de-Venise style. Golden color with an orange marmalade and tangerine aroma. The flavors are bright and fresh featuring orange, caramel and honey. A sensual delight with a warm mouthfeel from the elevated alcohol. Very sweet, at its best served well-chilled.

Andrew Quady's change of career from making fireworks to making wine produced an explosion of its own kind when he created Essensia from the Orange Muscat grape (named because the grapes have an aroma reminiscent of orange blossom). It was an instant success at tastings and wine shows and until 1985 he could not make enough to satisfy demand. Quady is the foremost American winery specialising entirely in dessert wines. Grape Variety: Orange Muscat Fermentation: Was arrested with neutral grape brandy. This arrested fermentation preserves the delicate aroma of the fresh, ripe grapes. Ageing: 3 months in French oak barrels. Serve: Chilled in small glasses and is excellent when paired with desserts and chocolate. Tasting: A vibrant orange in colour, this wine delivers Notes: sweet oranges and apricots on the palate. Bittersweet orange marmalade balanced witha fine citric acidity. A great dessert wine.
