Quady Winery Orange Muscat California Essensia 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Essensia – From 100% Orange Muscat with an aroma reminiscent of Orange Blossom and Apricot, and a lingering refreshing aftertaste, Essensia is used as a dessert accompaniment or a dessert in itself. The Orange Muscat grape variety is little known. It was once grown in France and there are some small plantings in Italy and Australia. The wine is lightly fortified to about 15% alcohol and aged for 3 months in French Oak. The wine tastes balanced, like the taste of fresh fruit. Essensia's vibrant flavor makes it an excellent accompaniment to desserts, particularly chocolate and those containing almonds, peaches, apples, or apricots. It is also used for dipping biscotti, for moistening cakes, or for adding to trifles. With sparkling water, it makes a refreshing spritzer; with sparkling wine it makes Essensia Royale.

This wine is best served with a simple dessert - or as dessert itself. It is very sweet with a rich taste of apricots. Do not over chill, or you'll lose much of the flavor.

The Orange Muscat grape variety is little known. It was once grown in France and there are some small plantings in Italy and Australia. The wine is lightly fortified to about 15% alcohol and aged for 3 months in French Oak. Its relatively high acidity makes it taste balanced, even with its considerable sweetness, more like the taste of fresh fruit than an old fashioned sticky sweet muscat.

A delicious dessert in a glass. Bursting with rose petal-scented litchi, nectarine, honey and orange aromas and flavors, this is a sensory symphony. Has elegance as well as intensity. Drink soon.

Very sweet, this dessert wine has potent flavors of tangerines, apricots, honey, butterscotch and vanilla. Crisp acidity provides clean balance. Delicious and heady.

On sweetness alone, this dessert wine earned a good score. The orange fruit flavors, which are so pure and pinpointed, are exorbitantly rich in wild honey and vanilla cream. The alcohol level is high, but there's a beautiful streak of vibrant acidity that provides balance. Easy to drink over repeated glasses.
