Provenance Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Member Review by foodwinechickie:

This food-friendly Sauvignon Blanc was rated 91 by Wine Spectator and deserves the honor. It has a well-balanced level of acidity and is pleasantly dry. There's a brightness about the 2008 Provenance Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc that's vibrant with peach - tropical fruit - lemon flavors and hints of minerals. Paired well with apple, grilled cheese and with shrimp.

Our inaugural release, Provenance Vineyards 1999 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, established the winery's style: an elegant yet powerful richness with deep, intense flavors that reflect the vintage and vineyard. With the 2000 vintage we expanded our family of wines to include Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley Merlot. Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc, our only white wine, made its debut with the 2003 vintage. In August 2002 we acquired the winery known formerly as Chateau Beaucanon, located on Highway 29, for our home in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. After extensive remodeling and refurbishing of the property, we opened our tasting room, featuring a floor made of staves from our own oak barrels, in October 2003. Read less

Provenance Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from estate and nearby vineyards all in the Rutherford district of Napa Valley. Winemaker Tom Rinaldi has extensive experience with these grapes from his years at Duckhorn Vineyards. Rated 91 points and number 59 on the Top 100 Wines of the Year in Wine Spectator. They wrote “Key lime, passion fruit, melon and nectarine flavors are ripe, juicy and fleshy, with great intensity, a vivid acidity and terrific focus and clarity. Drink now.”
