Protocolo Red 2012
Ruby red with violet hues, clean and very brilliant. Aromas of Fruity, raspberry, red fruits; very characteristic of the variety. Light notes of vanilla and spice. On the palate, medium-bodied, good equilibrium of tannins and acidity. Finishing with notes of raspberry, vanilla and light notes of wood. Not yet reviewed; 2011 vintage rated 88 points by International Wine Cellar: (100% tempranillo): Bright ruby. Fresh red berries and cherry pit on the fruit-dominated nose and in the mouth. Smooth and appealingly sweet, offering straightforward fruity appeal and a touch of dark chocolate on the gently tannic finish.

Bodegas Solar de Urbezo is a modern winery, equipped with the most up to date winemaking equipment. The Gracia family has had vineyards in the high plateau of Zaragosa for many years. The Vina Urbezo wines have been shortlisted for the best Joven in Spain for the last 8 years. Valle Reale is a fantastic young winery really making the headlines and owned and operated by the Pizzolo family. It is one only a few wineries exploiting the pristine conditions in the Abruzzo region. The vineyards are situated in the rugged and beautiful Canestro Valley in the Majella National Park. A stunning area with bears and wolves often sighted in and around the vineyards. This is the only winery in any National Park in Italy and they cannot bring in any outside plant material, and they must produce with absolute respect for nature. The high altitude and cooler climate (not to mention the state-of-the-art winery) lead to wines with much more polish and class than most wines from this region. Two of their wines gained the ""Tre Bicchieri"" award in the 2011 edition of the Gambero Rosso. Producer information:Under the classification Vinos de la Tierra, Dominio de Eguren is distinguished from the rest of the wineries by its rigorous selection of vineyards situated in fabulous settings in the best production areas of Spain, advanced in age and with limited yield.The winery is located in the municipality of Páganos in the province of Alava and uses a total of 15 vineyards spread across domains of Vinos de la Tierra and Vinos de Mesa. This winery owns brands such as Códice, Épico, Protocolo, Torre Abalde and Estratego Real.The wines of Dominio de Eguren come from a rigorous selection of vineyards controlled by our property and situated in the main wine areas in Spain, close to 700 m in altitude, ranging in age from 30-70 years and a controlled production.The area is characterized by its continental climate, influenced by the Mediterranean through the east winds, with cold winters and hot, dry summers with high luminosity.The daily high temperatures caused by winds from the west, against the coolness and humidity of the night Mediterranean breeze, produce a large thermal amplitude, which favours the synthesis of polyphenols over a long period of maturation.Rainfall is low, usually under 400 mm annually. The little rainfall from May to September creates a perfect environment for a healthy harvest and thus grapevines could be considered cultivated in an almost organic way.The vineyards, planted in the so called marco real (an ortogonal way of planting) with a density close to 1,200 plants / ha, are established on a clay soil with a limestone base, poor in organic matter and capable of retaining water in the early stages of the vegetative cycle before the arrival of the dry summer months.The varieties are Tempranillo, known as Cencibel in the area, Bobal, Airen and Macabeo they match perfectly to the growing conditions. Harvest is done manually from late September onwards, always under the supervision and quality standards set by the Eguren family, thus obtaining berries with a high content in their skins of polyphenol in red varieties and terpenes in whites.
