Winemaker's Notes:

This splendid 5.5 hectare hillside estate is situated in the small town of Lessona, near Biella in northern Piemonte. It passed into the De Marchi family through their relative, Felice Sperino, a passionate viticulturist and professor in Turin. Paolo De Marchi is the winemaker and owner of top Chianti Classico estate, Isole e Olena, and he inherited Proprieta Sperino from his grandfather. Since the 1970’s, Paolo has dreamed of revitalising the Sperino estate and in the last few years has started doing so, together with his elder son, Luca. This is a bright, youthful colour with medium intensity gives way to a pure, lifted perfume that combines cherries and plums. On the palate, the wine has a good depth of supple, sinewy fruit that is beautifully balanced and long on finish. Enjoy with red meat and dishes with a rich creamy sauce.
