Prince Stirbey Crâmpoisie Selectionata 2006

Here's a nice, friendly, easy, crispy and floral dry white wine from Dragasani (Romania) vinified 100% from Cramposie - a local variety of grape. The owner of the estate - Baroness Illeana Kripp, is a descendant of the Prince Stirbey family, who took over the vineyard in 2001. Ever since, Agricola Stirbey vinery has produced fine quality Romanian reds (Novac, Negru de Dragasani, Feteasca Neagra, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and whites (Feteasca Regala, Sauvignon Blanc, Tamaioasa Romaneasca and this particular Cramposie). Cramposie read more...Selectionata is typical for the Dragasani region, it is a light white (12,5%alc), light bodied, with an interesting nose of ripe apples, citrus, green nuts and fresh bakery. Though it lacks subtlety, it is an honest fresh & revigorating, easy to drink companion of fish and fresh salads with mild dressings, or, as I like it best, it goes well with salty patisserie or seafood paellas to whom this wine is a perfect match.
