What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. This wine is produced in the heart of Puglia from very old, and hence very low yielding vineyards that reach an age of 60 to 80 years. It possesses lip-smacking forward fruit flavors that glide along on a dense, muscular structure and fan out in a remarkably rich finnish. Irresistible in this price range (low $30s).

 Luca Maroni, Italy’s formost wine critic, awarded the 2005 vintage the highest score of 97 points in the 2009 edition of his LM tasting guide - the highes score awarded and hence Number 1 in Italy. This is a great wine. Don't miss it.
