In a word – WOW! Had you heard the 2001 vintage was supposed to be a blockbuster and wondered if it was all it was cracked up to be? You betcha. Our location at 2100’ and emphasis on true physiological ripeness of the berries means that we consistently produce outstanding wines. In a vintage like this, our wines are mind-blowing. (Okay, we’re being a little modest.) Here in the 2001 Merlot, the proof is in the glass. Inky black in color and profusely aromatic, cassis and chocolate shout from the glass. Take that first sip and ripe dark cherries and roasted coffee beans explode in your mouth, while the weight of the wine permeates your gums. Meaty and texturally dense, this is a wine to chew.
