User Reviews for Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Add your reviewThis was one of three 2006 Napa cabs we opened for my 30th birthday. The other bottles were Sequoia Grove Rutherford Bench Reserve and Larkmead Solari Reserve. All of the bottles decanted for three hours before serving. The Pride Mountain was very dark purple in color and oozing with ripe and jammy black berry notes. On the mid palate there is also plenty of oak, vanilla, dried fruit and tobacco. This is an extremely rich wine and was by far the most fruit forward jammy bottle of the night. It was not as structured as the other two bottles but was well received as 2 of our five tasters preferred this bottle over the other two.
Very nice cab!!! Opened up nicely after decanting for 3 hours. Interesting notes of violet and dark fruits. Very long finish with just a touch of astringency on the finish because it is young.

Winemaker's Notes:
The 2006 vintage produced some of the most expressive, unctuous wines ever from our Spring Mountain estate, and the Cabernet Sauvignon is no exception. Grapes from individual vineyard blocks ranging from 0.25 to three acres in size were meticulously hand picked, and were then fermented in stainless steel vats and aged separately for 18 months in French oak. The final blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot conveys delectable flavors of cassis, dark cherry, coffee and black tea layered upon a textural palate. After a barrage of up-front fruit, the inky liquid lolls on the mid-palate before finally exploding into a hefty, minutes-long finish. Pushing the limits of concentration as far as possible without sacrificing balance, this is the pure expression of mountain fruit – a wine that needs no justification.
