Once again, Pride Mountain has come up with one of the most effusively fruity and intensely characterful Cabernet Sauvignons around, and its sheer generosity comes with no compromise in genuine polish. Beautifully made with layer upon layer of sweet oak, cocoa, dried flowers and absolutely unrelenting fruit, it is as extravagant in its gifts at the close as it is to start, and its ample tannins provide plenty of structure and staying power without ever interrupting its fruity flow.

($56) Good full ruby. Cassis, violet and cedar on the nose. A step up in sweetness and flavor intensity from the merlot, with bright, more thoroughly integrated acidity framing the varietally pure cassis, black plum and violet flavors. Finishes firmly tannic but not dry. Pride has 13 acres of cabernet sauvignon on the Sonoma side of the county line, but this fruit was not yet used in the 2000 bottling.
