Prager is one of the few Napa Valley producers growing Portuguese varieties in the Valley. While the Port works, south of St. Helena, has been making sweet wine since 1980, the family has only begun making some of their Ports from traditional Portuguese grapes in the last two years. When the Pragers purchased a vineyard north of Calistoga in 1999, they planted five traditional Port varieties, including the three for this wine – Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao and Tinta Roriz.
