Prager Petite Sirah Port California 2009
Tried this at the winery a while back and picked up a bottle for my dad as a gift. For anyone who likes desert wines, Praeger is a must-stop in Napa Valley. Thick and rich with cherry, plums and leather.Add winemaker's notes

Nice blue and black fruit on the nose. Plum. Very fruity. Good balance on the palate with nice fruit. Toasty, smoky plum, blueberry and blackberry. Good tannin/acid balance. Flavors also of ink, tar, leather. Nice. 88 pts. 5/10/13 at winery
Prager makes my favorite ports. Their Royal Escort is a distinctive, semi-sweet port. The RS is 7% (lower than most ports). 20% alcohol. Having lower RS allowed the quality of the grapes (single vineyard Petite Sirah) to come through for me. Red and black cherry aromas. Went well with a dessert of fresh strawberries and mint cookies. Tasted March 2010. The winery suggests drinking within 3-5 years. The 2001 held up well after 8.5 years.
