Potel Chambertin Clos de Beze 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

"An elegant, pure and reserved, spicy, cool and layered red fruit nose nuanced by hints of wood toast that are also picked up on the mineral-driven and highly complex flavors that possess really lovely intensity, balance and outstanding length. This is perhaps not quite as dense or powerful as the Mazoyères but the sense of harmony and overall class and breed are better still. In sum, this is very impressive." 92-94 Points - Allen Meadows (Burghound) "Deep red-ruby. Fruit-dominated aromas of crushed raspberry and strawberry. Pure considering the extensive hail damage here (Potel says 40% of the berries were eliminated) but in a very tight style, with a distinctly cool, peppery quality apparent. Doesn't show the normal sweetness or aromatic expressiveness of a young Clos de Beze. Finishes long and aromatic, though. " 90-93 Points - Stephen Tanzer
