Potel Beaune Grèves 2005
Chardonnay: Allen Meadows, Burghound 97 "As it should be, this is the best wine here with its compelling nose of acacia blossom, distinctly ripe orchard fruit and gorgeously exotic spice notes that seem to keep changing every few minutes followed by classy, pure and fine flavors that possess both seriously impressive power and wonderful elegance, which continues onto the multi-dimensional, dense, long and palate staining finish. This is very much of a baby and will need plenty of time to really open up so be prepared to wait. Note that there was a trace of reduction on the nose so it would be best to decant this for 30 minutes first if curiosity gets the best of you! Don't miss!"

Editorial Reviews for Potel Beaune Grèves
This opens sappy and sweet with oak to the fore and a background of licorice spice. There is a deep, roast meat, veal reduction edge to the fruit and high tones of cola and floral tones. In the mouth this is bright with a bit of an extracted feel. Simple cherry and cranberry fruit is presented in a modernish package of clumsy tannins and elevated alcohol that yields an inelegant whole though the finish does offer a pleasant medicinal note. 86pts
Nose is musky and forest-like, sort of like men's cologne. Lots of currant with a little raspberry on the end. Light tannins, light acid, but still good medium body and finish. Unsure what this would pair with, food-wise.
This is a beautiful wine, even now, though it has more than a dozen more years to go. Perfumed citrus hints lightly veil the rich but elegant varietal qualities that reveal themselves in abundance as the wine opens up.
Deep cherry black color. Redolent of garden-variety flowers such as violets and even dying hyacinth with that wild, used leather to which we can add horse sweat. Brilliant. The same welcoming panoply of flavor greets the palate; there is cola, deepest ripe cherry and strawberry and some lively acidity. Very satisfying, long, refreshing finish. A very fine wine at a reasonable price. Will age another 3-5 years, but great as is!
This wine should meet the expectation of most wine enthusiasts familiar with the wines of this Beaune Village: candied almond might be one way to describe the nose (with a certain astringency on the olfactory nerve). Entry is pleasant and smooth with some residual alcohol on the palate - but not too distracting. This is a well made, clean long-finishing wine. Recommended if obtainable.
Maybe I was on a pinot kick tonight, but wow! This was another well rounded, meaty yet supple and fruity pinot for Burgundy. I found the nose and the flavor both alike to be rich, berry filled with just the right touch of earth and flowers to give it depth and character. Great! -Tasted at The Hostile Grape 8/5/09
Lovely blackberry aromas and palate with a silky texture. Round, spicy finish.
Fiarly tart with floral and coffee notes.

A distinctly more elegant and higher-toned nose introduces rich, full, pliant and refined flavors that possess outstanding depth on the ripe, balanced, pure and sublimely harmonious finish. A terrific Beaune and highly recommended. Burghound. A Pinot Noir wine from Burgundy in France. 2005 Bouchard Pere et Fils Beaune Greves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus 1er Cru 750ml

The palate is dense, plush with crunchy appley fruit with a zest of vivid acidity. Notes of spiced lemon-cake and and gentle oak come through in the finish.
