Poppy Monterey 2006

External Review by Morrell & Company:

Poppy is a relatively new venture for Winemaker, music aficionado and sometimes surfer Eric Laumann. He is committed to sourcing grapes from top vineyards and producing pinot that is meant to be drunk now for great value. We loved this wine. Bright red ruby translucent in color with aromas of raspberry, plum, pie spice, and gravelly earth. On the tongue, this is a light-middleweight Pinot, and is nicely tart with fine young tannins. On the palate, cherry, pomegranate and plum flavors combine with light clove, tea and citrus rind accents that echo nicely in the dry finish.
