Modern nose on this wine with fat rich oak, and smoke. Some fruit is hidden in there, black and dark, though the wood is not giving it up. In the mouth this wine shows some promise with big body and yet the acrid acidity and 2x4 flavors really dimish any hope I had to taste some fruit and spice. There is a bit of burnt raisin on the finish but that's about it. Really disappointing. Mouth is left dry and rough.

Earthy stewed fruit and chocolate behind a wall of thick oak slabs. Granted, the occasional cherry note sneaks out occasionally, mixed with some vanilla bean, but it's a stretch to find it. Big and juicy in the mouth, with fine silky tannins and awkward acidity. By awkward I mean it peaks at the front and back of my mouth, but leaves the center void of any freshness. On the finish, I get a touch of sour cherry, heavy oak, and a sandpaper like feel on the palate. I wouldn't order this twice.
