Complex and mature, this is a formal, regal Champagne. It's classically pinot in its red fruit, layering cherry, raspberry and red apple. Yet all of that is surrounded by a paler spice - cumin, toasted wheat, baked quince. The dynamic flavors last over a minute after each sip, the bubbles informing the flavor or seeming to form it. A remarkable '93.

The 1986 Sir Winston Churchill is so very dry and austere that it was mistaken for Bollinger by a few tasters. Definitely a Champagne to have with food, this subtle, understated sparkler has a toasty nose, lots of power, depth, and good acidity. Typical of the Winston Churchill Cuvée, this is a long ager, although it is quite good right now.
Flavorful yet dry, with lean citrus accents, lively acidity and a crisp, almost austere finish. Still has a great mouthfilling mousse after all these years on the yeast. Drink now.
The structure of the 1996 vintage is softened by a fine, silky mousse in this intensely wrought bubbly. Fresh, with citrus, berry, nut and coffee aromas and flavors and a rounded finish. Drink now through 2015. 500 cases imported. -BS Wine Spectator. A Champagne Blend wine from Champagne in France. 1996 Pol Roger Winston Churchill 750ml
Hints of nut and honey underscore flavors of lemon meringue, citrus peel, smoke and toast in this vivacious Champagne, which is driven by firm acidity, leading to a lingering, spicy finish. Drink now through 2020.
This is closed off, as many 1996 wines are at the moment. It's a great vintage of Winston Chruchill, a powerful young wine with mouthwatering flavors of cold-climate grapes and the chalky acidity that sustains them. Those flavors seem compressed and hidden for now, but the balance and minerality is clear. This has a long future ahead.
