Editorial Reviews for Pol Roger Champagne Blend Champagne Extra Cuvée de Réserve Brut
Complex on the nose with layers of blanched and raw nuts, white mushroom, grass, pineapple, lime and almond nougat with a hint of flintiness. A little sweet one entry, this is rich and creamy with a lovely lushness to it and early apricot fruit. The acidity pops on the back end, bringing the pineapple and lemon fruit flavors to the fore. The finish is subtle and long, spicy with a tangy minerality. I like this very much. 92pts
User Reviews for Pol Roger Champagne Blend Champagne Extra Cuvée de Réserve Brut
Add your reviewThis has to be one of the nicest most refreshing NV Champagne's I've had. The particluar bottle drank had been ageing in the sideboard for almost 2 years so it hasn't come straight off the supermarket shelf but the flavour is pretty loud, full of life. Pretty amber in colour, the chardonnay is fairly obvious here (the tropical fruit flavour comes to the front before the biscuit/brioche takes over) and bubbles aplenty. Really nice.
Has everything I usually want in a Champagne - nice amount of sweetness and zest. Perfectly balanced flavours.
Have never been a big champagne drinker except on special occasions. Thought this paired nicely with the oysters we devoured. A little sweet but not overwhelming.
Really lets get serious you would have to be a nut to rate this over 2, its just rubbish. Its like most of the snob value champagnes full of acid and bad flavours. I wouldnt pay for this, not even $5 its just not a level I would lower myself to just for the sake of saying look at me. gorgeous flavors I had to laugh when someone wote gorgeous flavors, only if you think dog spit sounds gorgeous.
The "white foil". Really let's get serious. You would have to be a nut to rate this over 3 (I rated this a 3 partly because I liked the white foil). The acidity is a bit too overwhelming. I can't believe the royal wedding chose this exact champagne (as the news said after the wedding). They should really have chosen a nice vintage of Dom Perignon (as the news said before the wedding). Medium gold colour with a very fine bead; relatively firmly structured; flowery, sophisticated toasty aromas with plenty of spice and hints gooseberry and sour green apple (acidity is a bit too overwhelming); just enough sweetness to add some charm and a long and flavourful finish.

Rich notes of pear pastry, toasted almond, smoke and honey are well-meshed with and balanced by fresh notes of lemon peel, quince and grated ginger, all knit with the finely tuned acidity and creamy mousse. Drink now through 2017.
Pol Roger has hit the bullandrsquo;s eye with this yearandrsquo;s release, which boasts smoky, toasty, spicy aromas and rich, mouthfilling flavors of red berries, citrus and minerals. Creamy and mouthfilling, with a long, luscious finish.
Composed of equal portions of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay from at least two vintages, often three or four. For added complexity 30 to 35 vineyard origins are selected to which 25andndash;30% older reserve wine is added. Disgorges when the youngest component has aged 3 years.
This has mouthwatering flavors of white melon and daikon. Itandrsquo;s a bit reduced at first, with racy acidity for sashimi.
The dry, roasted scents grow bold and broad across the palate. Then it finishes with elegance and refinement, with a grip and lasting savor for food. A terrific non-vintage brut, for blini with crandegrave;me fraandicirc;che and caviar.
This is top-notch Champagne, mostly Chardonnay, in a clean and fresh style with fine mousse. At the price it is one of the best.
Apple and toffee on the nose; hints of older juice. Frothy and juicy but on the lean side, with a suggestion of sour apple. Shows a faint dry edge of apple skin and some underlying minerality. Boasts sound acidity and a firm finish, but does not seem up to past releases of this non-vintage brut.
Winemaker's Notes:
Full-flavored yet crisp and delicate. Nicely doughy on the nose with distinctive mature toasty and nutty flavors. Harmonious Brut with lovely balance and a great lingering finish. 92 pts Wine Spectator
Tasting Notes:
The guiding principles of blending are the achievement of harmony and consistency. The "White Foil" blend is traditionally composed from around 30 still base wines, drawn from different vineyard sites, grape varieties and vintage years. The blend contains approximately one third each of the classic grape varieties of Champagne: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay
Aged 36 months in French Oak.
