Tenuta Poggio Verrano 2006 Dròmos IGT Maremma Toscana Dròmos is a modern and elegant blend of Sangiovese, Alicante, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It is produced by my facebook friend, Francesco Bolla of Tenuta Poggio Verrano, a winery located in the Estrucan Maremma on the Tuscan Coast. The 2006 Dròmos is the finest wine this property has developed to date. It reveals an opaque ruby garnet color, spicy oak and densely concentrated dark fruits, herbs, and minerals. A great and elegant unfiltered red wine, vibrant and intense. Decanting the wine the aroma inside emerges, adding an additional complexity. The tanins support the finish. It is a fine example of a savory Maremma in this significant vintage year. 93/100 WS
