External Reviews for Poet's Leap Riesling
This tangy wine has presence and depth, with a tart edge to the delicate sweetness, as apple and floral flavors linger on the finish. Drink now. -HS Wine Spectator. A Riesling wine from Washington in USA. 2010 Poets Leap Riesling 750ml
Rating: 95/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. 32.8% residual sugar. Easily the most concentrated wine in this group of very sweet wines, it is also incredibly complex with its early aromas of honey, candle wax, marzipan, ripe peaches and a slightly idiosyncratic suggestion of pumpkin pie. Every bit as generously endowed in the mouth, from its peach essence and toasted almond flavors to its viscous, syrupy palatal weight, this wine is a tour de force that demands drinking up on its own in quiet contemplation. 375 ml bottling.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
"Rating: 95/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. 15.7% residual sugar. Half as sweet and half as pricey as the Ice Wine from Poet's Leap
Rating: 95/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. 15.7% residual sugar. Half as sweet and half as pricey as the Ice Wine from Poet's Leap, this one offers a clear contrast in choice and use. Whereas the wine above is the dessert, this wine makes a better choice alongside foods like fresh strawberries and scones. It is convincingly Riesling in its fruit, full of energy and extremely well-balanced from first to last and virtually begs for time in the cellar to allow its baby fat to melt into a complex wine destined for the ages. 375 ml bottling.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.
