What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

This medium-plum colored Zinfandel is very forward with rich and sappy French oak notes, with ripe raspberry and bramble notes up front. The core of the wine is very robust with dark fruit including black cherry and cassis followed by generous and integrated spice flavors of star anise, cardamom, licorice with ample coffee flavors on the backside which finishes with the classic old vine, resinous finish. This wine is the perfect match to St. Louis style ribs with a side of cole slaw or a hearty bowl of turkey chili paired with jalapeno cornbread muffins.
