Plungerhead Cabernet Sauvignon Lodi 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

The inaugural 2011 Plungerhead Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color with aromas of blackberry, plum, spearmint, roasted red pepper, and fire toasted oak. Flavors of black currant, sweetened dried cranberry, dark chocolate, and black raspberry jump from your mouth finishing with notes of vanilla, espresso, dried cherry, caramel, and hints of mint. Just like our Zinfandel counterpart, the 2011 Plungerhead Lodi Cab would go great with BBQ given its depth and smoky oak nuances. Try this Cab with slow roasted Tri Tip with a baked potato topped with sour cream, bacon bits, and green onion or a pizza topped with shredded short ribs, caramelized onions, and gorgonzola cheese. This Cab would also go great with a plate of pulled pork, red wine vinegar slaw, brown sugar baked beans, and cornbread.

Plungerhead:
Plungerhead is a brand of Zinfandel produced by The Other Guys, the hipster offshoot of Sebastiani family wine brands. The bottle features a ZORK closure (a red tear-tab stopper) that matches the Monty Python-esque  label image of the bespoke, mustachioed gent with the red plunger on his head. These affordable Zinfandels have gained popularity not only for their unique packaging, but also their value-driven quality.
