[Sparks] Not decanted; drank over 3 hrs. Initially it was very tight. Floral aromas with some licorice. On the palate earthy licorice, mint, a hint of red fruitand oak; big tannins. Solid structure. If you have it hold if for at least 2 years, should age nicely in the short term. I personally would not buy more, but I am biased b/c I find the winery staff very rude. though KAB enjoyed it giving it 93. My score 89-91.

Had been saving this bottle from trip to Napa, paid $58 at the time. Very smooth with long finish. Lovely nose with hits of leather. Paired with beef Wellington for Christmas dinner, was a real treat.

This is a previous selection of Gold Medal Wine Club- Platinum Series. In the proverbial wine-world, PlumpJack is what is known as a cult-winery, with their wines quickly scooped up at $130.00 per bottle upon release. Some of you may recall that they set the wine-industry on its ear by bottling their top-end wine with screw-tops to eliminate any chance for cork-taint. The 2000 PlumpJack Oakville Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon is the inaugural release of their newest Cabernet Sauvignon. It is available only through the winery, through the Platinum Series and a few select restaurants where it sells for up to $20.00 by the glass. This Cabernet has aromas of chocolate, black cherry lavender and currants that jump out of the glass. On the palate are deeply fruited flavors with hints of cheery, chocolate, mint and sage. This is a 100% Cabernet blend from two prestigious Oakville vineyards, Tok-a-lon and Vineyard X. While it is very enjoyable now, it will only get better over the next 8 to 10 years.

Opaque and brooding, nose was a bit restrained, but with some time there was the usual suspects of tar and red & black fruits. The palate had shown a medium bodied mouthfeel with some class, but always seemed kicked down a notch. Quiet and refined, there was nothing that screamed loudy. Balanced and nicely structured. There was black currant, bleckcherry, raspberry, leather, soy, and a touch of menthol...just a touch. A intertwined tannin and acid level that acted like a tight wire, but not as taut as it could be. Theres a little play and one senses the balance a bit fragile for it. Feminine and pretty though. Decent finish.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a successful effort in this more challenging vintage. Its black/purple color is accompanied by copious notes of cassis and blackberries intermixed with hints of charcoal and spice. Medium-bodied with less intensity than the 2010 Estate, but impressive purity and depth, it should drink well for 15 years. A gorgeous core of juicy red fruit announces the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2010 stands out for its expressive, supple personality. There is more than enough fruit for the 2010 to drink well early. The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the more approachable wines of the vintage. It should drink well pretty much upon release. Raspberry jam, flowers and cinnamon add lift on the floral, perfumed finish. This is a lovely showing from Plumpjack. In 2010 the new oak, 80%, is a little more evident than is typically the case. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. (100% cabernet sauvignon): Good deep ruby. Blueberry, cassis and licorice aromas accented by notes of eucalyptus and pepper. Juicy, pure and intense, with a subdued sweetness to the rather cool black fruit, spice and mint flavors. Some subtle green notes reminded me of a Medoc wine on the finish, which features fairly suave tannins. "We picked on the early side because we liked the flavors," noted assi...

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful wine. Freshly cut flowers, dark red berries, mint and crushed rocks are some of the nuances that flow from this highly articulated, engaging red. Despite its richness and obvious size, the 2009 retains remarkable freshness, clarity and precision. This is a terrific showing. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2024.I have been following Plumpjack since first visiting the winery nearly a decade ago. This is a stunning set of wines from winemaker Tony Biagi, who has succeeded in achieving both astonishing richness and finesse pretty much across the board. ImpressionsThe 2009 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet is a testament to the impressive terrior of our estate vineyard. While many fought the inclement weather our estate vineyard on the eastern side of Oakville was bathed in sunlight. Classic PlumpJack aromas of black cherry, blackberry, sage, iron filings and anise are followed on the palate with primary flavors of Bing cherry, blackberry, mocha and hints...

Likely to be the finest cabernet made by Plumpjack up to now (says Robert Parker). Sumptuous aromas of lavender, blacberry, blueberry and cassis followed by an extraordinary density of fruit and a full bodied mouthfeel. A 99 PPOINT WINE ADVOCATE WINE.
