As in years past, the main source for the PlumpJack Merlot in 2009 was Beckstoffer’s Orchard Ave. Vineyard in the Oak Knoll appellation. Other vineyard sources included; Kenefick Ranch vineyard in Calistoga, Beckstoffer’s Melrose vineyard in Rutherford and Flora Springs in Rutherford. The Wine Advocate scored this 92 points saying "The 2009 Merlot bursts from the glass with racy red fruit, mint, flowers and spices. This is a refined, juicy Merlot to drink over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016." Limited!

Primary aromas of baked plums, cardamom, mulling spices and blackberry are followed by aromas of chocolate, vanilla beans and coffee. On the palate flavors of berry cobbler, plums and cocoa are followed by flavors of herbes de Provence, cedar and cigar smoke.

As in years past, the main source for the PlumpJack Merlot in 2008 was Beckstoffer’s Orchard Ave. Vineyard in the Oak Knoll appellation. Other vineyard sources included; Kenefick Ranch vineyard in Calistoga, Beckstoffer’s Melrose vineyard in Rutherford and Flora Springs in Rutherford. A blend of 78% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6 % Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 17% in French and American oak barrels. Robert Parker scored it 91+ saying "Dense purple, with loads of charcoal and barbecue notes as well as smoke, meat, black cherries and plums, the concentrated 2008 Merlot still needs some time to resolve its relatively formidable tannic structure. Give it another 2-3 years and drink it over the following 10-15." Very limited.
