Winemaker's Notes:

Fruit sourced mostly from our 36 year old Wyjup and 38 year old Bouvary vineyards with smaller amounts form the 30 year old Charleston vineyard and introducing a portion from our promising young Rocky Horror vineyard, all growing on gravel loams from around the Mt Barker area in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. The 2005 growing season enjoyed perfect ripening conditions of mild temperatures and relatively dry conditions till early April when the heavens opened up; thankfully most of the fruit was harvested. Yields were moderate and the season provided fruit with vibrant, varietal flavours. A classic Shiraz which opens with blueberry and mulberry, with a dollop of vanilla but with wafts of pepper, nutmeg cloaked with cedar lurking in the background. Palate is strongly varietal, with a structure built for the long haul, with a sumptuous mid palate of succulent plums and blueberries and lingering, mouth filling spice flavours.
